How do you use cinnamon sticks? What all can you make with them?

Cinnamon sticks are great, especially this time of year. You can use them in place of potpourri. You can just put them in a decorative planter of fake flowers. They will smell great throughout your house.
One craft item I made years ago was made of braided yarn. It had cinnamon in little pieces of cloth wound within it. Plus sticks of cinnamon. Great way to make the kitchen smell good even when you're not baking a pie. :)

I use natural oils n my potpourii burners.
But I also use the sticks as well as home grown mint leaves.
I also use rinds from oranges etc for them.
Great having a natural scent in the house.

Use them whole in hot chocolate or Hot Apple cider.
That is the main use of whole ones.
The sticks can be ground for use in recipes as well.

You can use them in a variety of hot drinks like hot chocolate,hot teas and coffee. The only thing I have ever used them in to cook was making apple butter in the crockpot. You use a jar of applesauce, 1 cup sugar and 2 cinnamon sticks. It has to cook for several hours (6-8) but it is well worth th wait.
They are also useful in crafting and you can simmer them in a pan of water on the stove for a great smell throughout your house.

I was not aware that you could makee applesauce with them. Those are helpful tips. I appreciate the information and will have to try these ideas.
