| |  I don't own a D60, but I do use a friends from time to time, and though I prefer my Canon SLR (and I reckon it gives more for the money), the Nikon is a fine camera and well worth the money.
I think it is a good idea to try out any camera you like the look of against other comparable cameras. The Sony Alpha 350, the Canon 450D or 40D, the Olympus e420 or e520 and the Pentax K20 should all be on you list. They are all great cameras, but their ergonomics, including way the controls are placed, the weight in your hand, the viewfinder placement, the menu layout...all make a difference to how right or wrong the camera is for YOU.
