Hopefully someone can help me! I am a slender (5'9 135-140 pounds), healthy 24 year old my husband and I have been ttc for 2yrs. I have been seeing my obgyn (whom is highly recognized in our community for her treatments for infertility) for the last year and a half. She has said up until now that there was nothing wrong with me and some women just take longer to conceive. Shes ran more tests and a procedure (hsg) than I ever thought I'd have to do in my lifetime. Up until now I've been very healthy occassional sinus infection but thats it. Last month I self diagnosed myself with pcos then went to her office and asked that she test me. Two days later her nurse called to tell me that I did indeed have pcos. She explained that she hadn't already caught this because I am not morbidly obese. And actualy I only have a few of the symptoms rapid and excessive hair growth (but not on my face), irregular periods (but not horribbly irregular cycles any where fron 24 to 36 days) but I do have a period every month, cysts on my ovarys, slight acne, I only have cervical mucous probably once every three-six months so I'm figuring that may be I do mature and release an egg occassionaly, horrible cramping associated with my period, and of course theres the blood test that said I do have pcos. So she put me on metformin which I took for two weeks then stopped cause I can not handle gi effects that it has. I also was not told about the liver enzyme test that I shold take in a few months. Is she just telling me what I want to hear then throwing medication at me? She has called something else in for me but I havnt picked it up yet. I'm a disgusted as well as skeptical of her practice so i have scheduled an appointment with an endocrinologist but he can't see me til december 23. His receptionist said that I could call as often as I'd like and ask if there are any cancelations. I plan on calling daily maybe she'll get tired of talking to me and bump me up. So now i'm alittle skeptical of the endocrinologist. Is he going to take years to tell me that theres nothing wrong only for me to figure it out on my own? Are any of you tall and very slender? What treatments should I expect him to prescibe? Do you know if with treatment (metformin or something)can i get pregnant naturaly (no clomid no iui or ivf)? I know that i've given ALOT of information I hope that I've given enough details. Thank you in advance for any advice that you can give me.
