The flag was replaced the other day...

Flag on bridge - The flag on the bridge

I don't remember when this flag first showed up, either Sept 11 or Veterans Day of this year. It's on a light pole in the middle of this bridge that I cross every day to go to work and again to come home. I know it wasn't put up there by any "agency", I mean it was put up there by just some person I'm pretty sure. About a week ago I had noticed that it was looking pretty tattered and I kept wondering what was going to happen to it. The other day I noticed that a new flag was put up. I wonder if the person who put it there will be replacing it all the time? Or if someone else will notice one day that it needs replacing and they'll do it? It's not there for any reason, other than to be there. I don't think there's any group that put it up. I think it was just a symbol for the day and now it's grown to belong there. Does this kind of thing happen where you live? Do people keep it up? I don't mean the memorials on the side of the road, but something that's a bit "odd" at first because it's never been done before...

I know in our town the boy scouts put flags out like that. They tend to be the keeper of the flags. I wonder if that is true in your town. When it is Veterans day and fourth of July they put flags down one main street also.

I think this is just some guy. My husband said he saw an old man up there replacing it that one day. I think it's going to be permanant, even though I'm sure if it was anything else it would have been taken down by authorities by now.

Hey reiny! I think that is very nice that someone put up a flag just like that. And then someone replaced it because it was getting worn out. That was a very patriotic thing to so. Maybe people just like seeing it there and wanted to keep it up and keep it there and make it more of a permanent site. I hope it stays there and you can keep us posted to let us know it people really care about and care to keep it there and looking good and taking care of it just because they like seeing it there.

It has been a welcome site every day. It's nice to know that people still care about being patriotic, and not just on the "days" we're supposed to!
