whatever happened to taylor hicks?

These comments have me giggling. I'm not sure if you are joking or not. Just in case you're not I'll let you in on what Taylor has been up to. At the time he won AI he was one of their most popular winners. Most votes, always in the top three. His "hopping around" as someone called it was energy plus and many loved him for it. He really is a very good natural dancer. And the harp on the finale show with him in black leather. It got a lot of attention. Then we have the summer tour. Most highly attended summer tour they ever had with half the crowd yelling Taylors name. It was great. Then he recorded the album. He was rushed. I liked the album, his voice was wonderful on it but some of his fans who had heard his pre-AI music expected something more bluzey and weren't all happy with it. And it seemed like there was some disagreement about what the single should be and it just wasn't supported by the record company for radio play as it should have been. That kept his sales low by AI standards. Selling 800,000 plus is not considered low in most circles but at AI it is. I believe there were other disagreements with the record company so they parted ways. But Taylor did two back to back album tours and they were very well attended. Many sellouts. And those album songs came alive as he performed them live. And he had a fantastic band. His tours were a success. On top of that, he has been Grand Marshall or whatever you call it at Mardi Gras. His song "Do I Make You Proud" was chosed the theme song of Asian Idol and he performed on their finale show. And did several other shows in Asia. He got excellent reviews from the newspapers there. He has performed in Italy and at many other shows also. A number of charity gigs. And of course he is a lot of fun to watch as he follows the sports he loves. Been in a bunch of celeb golf tournaments, all star celeb basketball game, sang National Anthem and attended nascar several times and also at football games. Attended the Kentucky Derby and playboy party. He looked gorgeous by the way. LOL Then he went to Broadway, turned the "teen angel" part into a showstopper and brought life to the final song of the show and made Grease into the best selling show on Broadway last summer. New York seemed to love him. The way he turned the teen angel part into a devilish angel is great. Even gets to play the harp. He got his "Early Works" album that he had promised out and formed his own label for his new album and signed with ArtisttoMarket to get that album out. That label has worked with many top names. He recently was in France doing pre-production on his new album, his producer has worked with Eric Clapton and Santana and Faith Hill, and many others. Should be a real good fit for Taylor. He has been in LA recording the new album with some great musicians which in due out before Spring. Right now they are saying Feb. 10. Hes taking the Grease show on the road and worked out a deal where he will be able to perform some of his new music as part of the show. He also will be doing some small club shows in many of the cities where Grease is touring. He also is releasing a DVD of one of his tour shows in Feb. also. I have seen this and it is to die for. He is a fantastic performer. I have also seen him pop up on tv , Regis and Kelly wedding and others. And he had a short book tour. You can find all his stuff, albums, book and all at amazon. I know as I write this that I have forgotten a bunch of stuff but I think you can see that Taylor has been very busy. Sometimes too busy, I don't know for sure but I don't think he has even taken time to buy a house. He is footloose and fancy free as he lives out of that suitcase. And a total blast to watch.

Well, i was wondering about him myself... seems like when he got released from his contract... he disappeared into oblivion... last i heard about him was that he is working on a material that suits him... the jazzy blues style we loved about him... i just hope he will be active again... or else his fans might forget him...

I just knew he would make it so big. His voice is awesome. I am so glad he got the chance to go for it. Hes total talent, and theres just no doubt.

thanks ladybug, right after Taylor was on AI, I really missed seeing him on TV every week so I looked him up online and he has been so much fun to follow. Hes become kind of a hobby, he is so entertaining to watch. When I responded I forgot a few of my favorite performances. When he sang "The Right Place" on The View and his Christmas shows. He did Christmas at Rockefeller Center where he did a great version of White Christmas/Winter Wonderland. And a medley of Christmas songs at Christmas in Washington. The last song on this is the best of all I think. I found it on youtube.
