Trucks sure knows how to ruin a day....  email this discussion to a friend?

I was on the interstate driving and minding my business when a rock hit the window of my car. It's not like I can do very much other than get it fixed but what has me upset the most is they keep driving as if nothing has happened. I am aware that the company will pay for it but I was too disgusted to even wrestle with that & on top of that I did not have an ink pen to jot down the information so I became even more upset.

Now I have a crack in my windsheild the size of a quarter and it can spread at any time. It is too close to Christmas and forreal... now that's going to have to be my new Christmas present to myself...

October 31 is really a jankey day!

As a long distance (interstate) truck driver I can say that the driver probably did not even notice it happening. If he noticed it after he passed you, he might not have realised that he had contributed to the breakage. A truck driver is more intent on spacial awareness and that is knowing where other vehicles are, how close to him, whether staying behind and in their own lane and not passing, animals which might wander onto the road etc.

If the windscreen was broken as a result of something coming up from the road, the truck driver can hardly be held responsible for that. A rock for example can be thrown up by anyone who is driving on the road, not just trucks. If on the other hand something came off the back of the tgruck (something fell from the load that is), then the truck driver is responsible as his load is not properly secured.

This may be true but honestly.... no one was in the two lanes but myself and the truck... the other cars were either far behind or way ahead. It just isn't fair! I guess I will have my insurance company pay for the windsheild or have pay for it out of my own pocket.
