Lord of the rings-books vs cartoon vs movie |
|
I first read this "book" when I was in middle school and loved it, but was very disappointed when I saw the cartoon. I think the movie was much more accurate and worth all the years I had to wait. I even read all the books to my husband so he could compare and discuss with me. Does anyone else think the cartoon was awful, but love how the story was portrayed with the movie?

The book was fantastic, one of my favorite books. Peter Jackson did an excellent job in bringing Tolkiens vision come to life on the big screen. he LOTR trilogy is my favorite movie, I have the extended versions. It fits what I saw in my mind while reading the books. Jackson even used exact dialogue from the books. I couldn't be more pleased with his movies.

I know they had to for time, but I wanted to "see" them. You may like Dennis McKiernan books. They go together, but you really can take almost anyone in any order. They are about a place called Mithgar and is in the same vein as LOTR.

It is the prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy and helps to explain a lot of what happens later in the LOTR story. It was written by Tolkien about 20 years before he wrote LOTR so his writing style is quite different. My 13 year old son just finished reading it and my daughters were even younger than him when they read it. They all loved it, and it is one of my favourite books.

3. jedopi (265) | 6 months ago | Which cartoon movie are you talking about. There was one made by Ralph Bakshi who only told the story up to the point of the war at Helm's Deep and then there is the animated cartoon made by Rankin Bass. They made The Hobbit and then The Return of the King which is sort of a combination of the 3 Lord of the Rings books put together. I thought that the Rankin Bass cartoons were kind of cute but definitely not up to today's standards. Ralph Bakshi's movie uses animation and live action in a strange sort of way, but any version of the Lord of the Rings is a welcome movie in my opinion. I can't wait until The Hobbit comes out.
