Abortion or miscarriage

November 4, 2008 5:06pm CST
I am thinking I better have to share my experience with some people who are interested. I don't know how to start to tell you this, but in all honesty I will have to cut the story short. I once got pregnant but not married, when my boyfriend knew that I am pregnant he was very happy! But I was very sad, because I still have goals and ambitions in life which I haven't got or reached yet. I did an abortion, thought it was aborted successfuly but now I am suffering the consequences about it. Is abortion or miscarriage have the same effect of the woman's health? Or does it have the same consequences in life?

I think that abortion is on purpose and miscarriage is by accident. One of my friends was 20 years old and found that she had an unwanted pregnancy. She decided to have an abortion and did that. She felt quite depressed after that and regretted it I think. Two years later I got married and had a baby son. She was jealous and she was a bit upset. Another of my friends got pregnant aged 23 and her boyfriend proposed to her. She had a miscarriage and was beside herself with sadness. Her boyfriend said he didn't have to marry her because she was not pregnant anymore. She stayed with him and got pregnant again and she had a baby girl. They got married and had another baby girl. I think that abortion affects some ladies that get depressed and some feel relieved. I know most ladies that have suffered miscarriage are worried in the next pregnancy. Good luck in your life and you are brave for taking about your abortion. In life sometimes a mistake can happen to everyone of us. Take care.

Thanks for wishing me luck and encouragement, Maxi. I appreciate it, yes thats true before when I didnt want to get pregnant, and now that I am stable and wanted a baby my health gone bad I still hope that I can be given a chance to have a baby even just one. I want to experience the life and the happiness of a parent, now that I don't have any reason to do an abortion again.

If you are talking about health, yes, both abortion and miscarriage will harm our health very much. After abortion or miscarriage, we really have to take care of our health, perhaps need to eat something good for our health to make the recovery faster. As for abortion, the doctor who performs the surgery needs to be really experienced and good, otherwise it may harm your health too. What has already done is done, what you can do now is perhaps go and seek for consultation from doctors, see if they can help to recover your health.

Thank you very much kaka. Yes I keep going to my doctor most of the time now, he said I will undergo a laparoscopic surgery in four weeks time. I was hoping I don't need one but the doctor insisted because its just for my own good. I hope I can recover and be healthy after. I am having a difficult time thinking about it, it stresses me.

Both abortion and miscarriage come with physical and emotional pain. You must try to get through the pain and heal physically and emotionally. There's no point in me telling you what you should have or shouldn't have done because what's done is done and you can't go back and fix anything. I wish good luck to you with your situation and hope things go better next time.

Thanks, I hope so, now I wanted to have a baby but I couldn't because of my health. Simply just because its the result of what I have done, I was just too childish at that moment when I did it and now I don't know how long will I be suffering for these kind of consequences.

I would think they're different. With abortion, you purposely take away the life of the child. Miscarriage is something that happens when you had an accident. You didn;t intend to let it happen.

Yes I purposely did it because I was just not ready to have a responsibility specially being a mother, I wanted to enjoy my single life fully first before I will step onto the next stage of life. But everything went wrong in my life since I did it, it still keeps haunting me. I can never forget such experience because until now it made me suffers.

Hello. Thank you for sharing your story. I believe, this one is some story to share to strangers. I believe that doing abortion on your own is quite risky in terms of reproductive health because indeed it could have long term effects on your body. The consequences of abortion can be in terms of women's health or can have life implications because a lot of hesitation about abortion has been established socially and morally, thus, when you undergo abortion you have to have vindication about your decision.

You're very much welcome, karamel. Well, I thought before that taking abortion could help me and my future. But now I regret it very much, I am stable now and wanting a baby but still I am on the process of going to and fro to my doctor in order to make sure that my health will be back to normal before I will take another risk. I hope I still can have a baby in the near future.

As any woman who has had an abortion knows, an abortion is not a frivelous undertaking, it is a last resort. You weren't ready for a baby psychologically, emotionally or financially and you did the best you could. You either weren't willing or able to go through the pregnancy to give your child up for adoption and that's your right to not give your child to someone else. No one can blame you for making the choice you made. As to how an abortion affected your health, if you had not had the abortion, this still could (and probably would) have happened. An abortion shouldn't have anything to do with the placement of your ovaries or the development of cysts. Women who have never had abortions develop cysts. Both an abortion and a miscarriage are dealth with the same way initially. You need to go to a doctor to make sure everything made its way out of your body. If any of it got stuck, it needs to be cleaned out. The consequences in life is a fuzzy matter and is different for everyone. Hope this helped! :-)

Thanks a lot princess! Yes your response helps me to understand more about abortion or miscarriage. Atleast you made me stop thinking this way, because I thought it was the abortion I did that made me suffer until now. My body and health was just very different after my abortion, that's why it made me think that it might be the consequences of what I have done.

Hello there! I am so sad to hear this from you because what you did is a choice for you to remove the life on your womb. Its an intentional move that leads you now to believe that it did had an effect to your present health condition. Miscarriage however is something that leads to sudden termination of life of the fetus due to an accident whether someone intend to do it or not. I think, forced abortion really had an effect to someone who undergone this process. If its not done well, it may have a long bad effect on you. I will suggest that you seek proffessional help so you could ask them to help you on your present condition. Pray a lot, it will help you best. Have a nice say ahead!
