You usually have to set up a routers settings yourself because they are normally set to default factory settings. You have to log in to the router admin, usually you do this by opening internet explorer and typing http://192.168.0.1/ in the address bar, but this could be different for your router so I can't be sure.

By default the login user name is 'admin' and so is the password. Once you're in you need to make sure that the MAC addresses of all the computers you want to connect are being allowed. You will also need your WEP key to connect to the network.

If you are on cable then you might also need to clone the MAC address of your computer so that the IP address of the router is the same as your computer when your computer is connected through cable normally.

The first thing to do is to consult your manual. For the router. There are a lot of great tutorials online about hooking up a wireless router. I know, sometimes it can be a real pain but a joy once you got it!

Additionally, be sure that before you get started, learn how to set up a secure wireless connection using a strong passphrase. Do not leave your wireless internet connection left "open".
The SID that you set in your in your computer also has to be set up in your router and must match.
I am working on getting my wireless router go through my wired router.. Should be a great experiment.
