AI is now a Piston!!!  | | | |  Barely a week into the new NBA season, we see perhaps one of the biggest trades in recent memory. Allen Iverson has been traded to the Detroit Pistons by the Denver Nuggets for Chancey Billups.
I'm really excited about the trade. I'm a big AI fan and I like the Pistons as well. So seeing one of my fave players join one of my favorite teams is really giving me the goosebumps. This works for the Pistons since they add a legit superstar to their already start-studded roster and AI brings a lot of positives to the team. I really hope that AI wins the big one with Detroit. There is no doubt that AI is a future Hall of Famer and a title will only cement his legacy.
Denver also gets an upgrade in the trade. The team sorely needs a pass-first point guard which AI isn't. Billups suits the role better and he provides additional leadership in this team. Chancey can distribute the ball well and can knock down some shots if he needs to.
Over-all, I think this trade helps both teams and it makes both teams better.
I can't wait to get my AI Detroit jersey.

anyway, AI did say in interviews that he has changed and matured and i'm sure he won't hog the ball as much when he's playing for detroit. there are other legit scorers in detroit. the rest of the starting five is a potential scoring threat so AI doesn't need to score in every possession. the same can't be said about denver and philly, AI's previous teams. aside from melo, there is no other scoring option in denver and let's face it, AI is the heart and soul of the 76ers when he was there.
anyway, i think AI is the missing piece in detroit's championship quest. i think they get it done this year.

| |  AI is one of the most selfish players in basketball. Why do you think the Sixers and the Nuggets got rid of him? Ball HOG!!! That's why.
Do you know why the Pistons traded for him? To free up cap room since his contract's ending soon. They're gonna dump him after the season.
Why do you think AI's never won a championship. BALL HOG!!! He will not win a championship this year with the Pistons and he will never win a championship after that. He will not change the way he plays. He's a shoot first, pass second point guard. Always will be.

such passion against AI!!! not surprised there. AI is a player you love or you hate. there's no middle ground when you talk about this guy.
there is a lot of talk going around that this is part of dumars' plan to free salary cap space to go after lebron james. at that time, iverson and wallace will have expiring contracts and the pistons can sign up lebron. also, lebron and ai share the same agent so this could indeed be the start of dumars plan to get perhaps the biggest free agent in nba history.
about the ai comments, to each his own my friend.

| | the guy can score and he gives a lot every time he plays. more than the points, it's the hustle and hear that he brigns to the game that really make ai one of the better players in the league.
