What will you do if your boss accuses you of starting a rebellion?

Before I left my job a few months ago, I learned that my boss has been telling his fellow bigwigs that I was encouraging my team to go against the company's management. I couldn't believe it at first because I am actually the type of employee who is ever diplomatic, ever law abiding, ever autority respecting. Eventually, I convinced myself that I should be flattered because he actually beleived I have the "power" to start a coup. But I must confess that I am outspoken, and maybe he had mistaken that for rebelliousness. I just chose to ignore him and eventually quit my job (which turned out to be the best decision I've ever made in my entire career). Anyway, if you were in my place, what would you have done?

Perhaps he might have overheard your conversation with your colleagues or a spy who dislike you backstabbed you in order to get rid of ya. Sometimes bosses do get suspicious when they feel that their position may be threaten...it may occur when you may have out-performed him in some way...well if your boss do not access his subordinate's value well then I believe you have made the right move.

Mmmm.. I never even thought about the backstabbing possibility until now. But yeah, you're right. It's possible. Anyway, thanks for affirming my decision. I've heard that he's making the lives of his employees miserable right now. I'm sad for my ex-colleagues, but at the same time I'm happy I'm not there to put up with him anymore.
