Yes many people are disciplined, they have strong will power can remain disciplined.

I am not and can not remain disciplined. Even I plan and try, very soon goes back to where I was.

Well firstly, being disciplined in martial arts can mean different things. There are people who use it for the wrong reasons every day, but can get up early and stay awake late in order to learn and perfect there style. I am a learner of Ninjitsu, and I consider myself well disciplined. I love martial arts and will continue to love it for the rest of my life. But it pains me to know that there will always be people who use these beautiful styles of fighting for a way to rid there selves of anger and rage, and no thats not in a good way.

I think so. Once you've learnt how to keep control of yourself when you're so knackered you can barely stand (let alone fight), scared for your life, but still able face off against people trying to hurt you, there are few situations you won't be able to keep a cool head in! It's just down to whether you use that knowledge/ability in other parts of your life or not.

I've got to admit, since I started doing martial arts, I have developed self control, patience, and discipline. Martial arts is more than just learning how to fight and defend one's self, it carries with it valuable lessons and values that is essential in one's personal development.

I used to have a very volatile temper before and after years of doing martial arts, I realized that I'm already able to control it. I can organize my thoughts and not my emotions take over me. Though there are times that things get too much, at least my reactions are more reasonable than before. Martial arts offers great things and really helps mold one's self into a better person.

Emotions such as anger, impatience, hate, and revenge are uncontrollable but what we can control is our reaction and perception of it. People feel emotions whether it's a positive or negative one, there's nothing wrong about it, but once one lets it take control of his/her thoughts and actions, that becomes wrong. That's where martial arts and it's values comes in. Martial arts is not just a mere physical activity but spiritual and internal as well.

Martial artists are some of the most humble and disciplined people you can ever meet. The lessons and values that martial artists learn in their training are applicable in life in general. Through training, the value of determination, focus, hard work, humility, patience, sportsmanship, respect, and obedience (to name a few) are realized and developed. It might take time but it's all worth it. People who have trained and achieved a lot in martial arts are people who normally have great character (though there are some exceptions. lol).
