Advice Needed |
|
Okay, all you perfect moms out there - I need some advice. How did you potty train your children? My grands are 28 months old are are quite willing to sit on the child seat that clips onto an adult toilet but they don't do anything. I would love to get them potty trained asap. Diapers are very expensive in my country as they are imported. Please can you giv me any ideas on what to do? Even if they were dry during the day this would be an enormous saving for us.

cynthiann (3078) | 1 year ago | Thank you Lilcee, this sounds like a great idea. They are not scared of the toilet but when one gets on the toilet thwe other says 'my turn'. we will have to work something out though and I am very good at getting ecited and cheering and clapping. should they be rewarded withan M&M or something if they go?

| 2. liztat (27) | 1 year ago | I might not be a perfect mom but i sure got the hang of the potty. What i started doing is basically run a potty schedule. Like as soon as he woke up i imediatelly put him on his potty. I kept doing this for after each meal and everytime i considered if was needed. someimes i was successful sometimes i was not. but pretty much this was the way he got used to and familiarized him self with the potty.I also had to contribute to sound effects:-D good luck!!

cynthiann (3078) | 1 year ago | I am going to ask the sitter to do this too. I had my granddaughter on the potty seat this morning and read to her but nothing. Her twin was standing beside me listening to the nursery rhymes and then I smelt the big stinky from my grandson! Too late! tomorrow I will start with him first. I must get it right one day! Thank you for your response

3. 3SnuggleBunnies (3370) | 8 months ago | Unfortuantly you cannot force them to to train even if they show interest. They will regress over and over again. Praise them as much as possible even if there are no results. There are books about training kids in say like 3 days or whatever, but I have never read them. My oldest took over a year to fully train (til 3.5yrs), my middle was done by 2yrs (only regressed when my son was born and when she had the flu), My lil guy is still too little yet to train. But I've noticed this post is fairly old. I hope you've had progress since you origionally posted.

cynthiann (3078) | 8 months ago | Thanks for your response. We have made good progress - both twins are dry in the day and use the toilet for their 'biggies' so that is a major relief. soemtimes they wake up to pee in the night and sometimes the girl is dry at night but we put 'diapees' on them at night. Things have iomproved - many thanks for responding
