Is it better to buy cheap knockoffs or expensive brand names?

Do you find it more economical to buy the knockoffs from say China at half or one third of the price the legitimate brand would cost. Are the knockoffs as durable or do they get destroyed twice or thrice as quickly so necessitating buying two or three more of the cheaper brands which turns out to be the more expensive option in the long run? Or the only difference between the knockoffs and the expensive brands is price and not quality? What is your experience?

I am too cheap. I will always go for the knock off!

I'm a real bargain hunter, I don't care if something is the "real" thing or not. I will buy the knockoff first to see if it can be used just like the real thing, and if it is severely low in quality, as in, I can't use it, I will get a used "real" one.

I buy what will satisfy my needs. I don't care to pretend having something I don't...so I'd say the real deal if either....

Depends on the item. Clothes are one thing I know that if you buy the cheap ones at Wal Mart, they usually don't last that long and you end-up having to buy LOTS of cheap clothes that aren't really that good. I don't buy clothes from Wal Mart anymore. Happy MyLotting!
