1st. Is it a bad thing to be a religious fanatic?
2nd. Can you define what a religious fanatic is?
For me I think religious ideology is a good thing, while I disagree with the foundations built by the hands of man, I do agree that we should all have something written upon our hearts as a moral compass or guide to a good life.
That being said I have a lot to add to and about religion where the bible is full of errors and contradictions and is used by our leaders to cause harm and tear families apart.
If you don't know my story or where I am coming from you can do some research to become better acquainted with the reasons that I come to share from my own experiences.
Where to begin? A good question would be a good starting point...
How can I claim to be religious and yet declare the bible to be flawed? Gather around and listen read and hear the story that I have to share. Knowlege is the key...

Hello TGWB, I have read some of your posts, And i can see your point on many things, even if i do not agree with them all.
To me a fanatic is one who lives what they believe. And that can be bad or good depending on what it is they believe. While most religions teach peace and love, their are some that do not. I would also have to say that I do not believe the Bible is flawed, just some peoples understanding of it is flawed. For anyone to real understand some of the things in the bible, they must dig through lots of history and ancient texts, and even look at manuscripts written before the bible that the bible borrowed from.

It all becomes very clear when you accept the teachings of the Bible and then get questioned in court by a judge who states or proclaims with question, "So you think you are a Christian? Well you are a liar?" to which I naturally respond, "Excuse me?" and the judge proclaims again to me that, "you are a liar." Now what was going on in court and how could anyone come to such a conclusion?
I never had a need to dig into ancient texts but have always paid close attention to history and what we as a civilization could learn from our past. So when I came to realize just how the religious community was twisting the facts to prove a lie and sell that lie as truth well what can I say?
The facts are the facts even if you or others would like to close your eyes to the truth. It is the Bible that is full of errors as a document to give deed and title to Israel land taken from the Caaninites and the source of many religious killings.
The truth is there are many other ways to become the owners of property and you know that the oldest son of the father should receive the inheritence if you are religiously convicted to follow with out error.
I could take this conversation into many directions.
Right now the truth is that you have to follow your heart and not your head or any book that could lead you down the wrong path.
You can find truth in the testimony and transcripts of actual court hearings and you could learn what the truth really looks like in the light of day if you knew what you are looking for.
Who tells the truth?

I'm going off to eat and put down a flat roof, I expect to be back in 6 hours...
Peace to all, until we write again...
P.S. With understanding you'll have to agree that what happened is wrong and the bible is wrong and the only way we can repair the damage done is to set out on a new day with a new vision.
We need something major to change so that we can do the business of being the light of love for all.
