Do you like to draw comic? |
If yes, which type of comic do you prefer - Japanese manga, the DC-type comic or the simpler and funny comics such as Dilbert and Garfield?
For myself, I draw manga though pretty bad with it. I have an ambition to be a successful comic writer and artist, even though I'm already 26. Hahaha. Just a dream.
What about you?

1. ratyz5 (3067) | 1 year ago | I like to draw and even considered making my own comic.. did simple comic strips as well as took a whole notebook and filled it with that sci-fi story.. it was later on followed with my interest on manga when I got to read one entitled I"s from Masakazu Katsura when a classmate of mine brought a volume for me to see, knowing that I have an interst with drawing and comics.
Still, I also like illustrations done in western styles like that of Marvel or DC. Realism on western style while emotions are better expressed with manga style.
I too have always wanted to be able to get a story done, illustration as well as authoring one but, time isn't really a luxury for me that I can afford just to spend on making one. Still, it wouldn't hurt if I was able to do a manga style comic or western one. I was only able to do a mini graphic novel with that notebook which was always read by my classmates during high school. That really made me happy (^_^ )

daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | I used to draw a lot during childhood time. I even sold some of my drawings to my classmates. LOL. But it's been so long, and my drawing is pretty bad now. I can't even draw a human figure properly. Gosh. I wonder how am I going to create a nice comic with my lousy drawing skill. And I am worse if I were to draw background.
| |
ratyz5 (3067) | 1 year ago | I use to draw a lot of scenes during my grade school days and I have also have not drawn for a long while now. I am not confident with my skills as well. Espcially when the background is in question. However, like all artists that I have asked before, don't be give yourself short of credit. Trying to draw is already a good thing while others simply don't even try. Always keep on drawing and never be disappointed with what you could do since like everything else, with constant practice, things will become better.

daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | Hmm, but at my age, there are some other things which I should be thinking of. Drawing is just a hobby after all and most probably can't earn anything from there.*Sighs*
| |
ratyz5 (3067) | 1 year ago | Well, you kind'a have a point.. reality seems to be that aspect that inhibits our whims into trying out things and makes us feel regretful to not try them when we were still young..
However, like all hobbies, it requires money and often does not make it yet, with creative handling, what seems to be an interest could also prosper into something lucrative. What all hobbies share in common would be self gratification, satisfying your likes and interest which isn't a bad things after a long day of work. If there is free time, even for a moment within our busy schedule, we could always try to squeeze in that interest of ours every now and then.
Who cares if you can't earn from it? Satisfaction can't always be purchased after all. (^_^ )
What we do makes us old, not what we think which is often influenced with the reality that we're in.

daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | Hmm, yeah, but sometimes I really do wonder whether I have so much time to do all these hobbies stuff. LOL. Maybe it's better to turn some of the more rewarding works into my hobbies.:D I don't know man. Nowadays, I find myself spending more and more time trying to figure what kind of business I should start and it's definitely not the comic business. It's not lucrative enough to survive, and I'm not good enough.

daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | Doing what you like to do during your free time might not be the same. I used to think I can work as a comic artist. So I ended up training my skills and stuff but I realized in the end that it will not work out. I prefer to draw freely and not under pressure. Most comic artists do work under pressure and tight schedule especially those working under certain publishing companies.
That's why have to think of longer term. Will I be able to survive and will I still be in love with what I'm in love with now, if I were to make it full time?

ratyz5 (3067) | 1 year ago | I guess we can't help it if we lose our passion for certain things that we use to like before. I mean, with things happening in our lives, constant change and priorities rising every now and then, one's interests does change without us realizing. If our passion is indeed more stronger than what reality could sway us into believing, things just go along and survival becomes distant within our thoughts.
Hesitation simply implies uncertainties. Being cautious and maintaining what seems to be stable would always be the safest path to trail.
| |
daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | Yeap, one needs to debate with oneself all the time in terms of what is the actual direction in life - to go after our passions or to survive in this harsh world. I'm being realistic but at the same time, I will really love to combine my passions with more realistic stuff.
| |
ratyz5 (3067) | 1 year ago | As long as you are alright with the things that you are currently occupied with at the moment, who knows, you might find other passions while dealing with your current reality? (^_^ )
| |
daydreamer20 (768) | 1 year ago | Yea, I'll just have to plan ahead and see what I can really do and how my passions going to help others. LOL.
