Qualities List of a Leader

A leader should first know how to follow rules and instead of imposing the rules on the people, he/she should let the people know that they always have a choice and whatever they choose, there is a corresponding result/consequence.. By this I think a leader can gain his respect from the people. Respect is always reciprocated..and from there trust is gained..

In the field of management there are lots of literature on the qualities of leadership. There are even whole books devoted to the subject. And if one goes through some of them, will find every good quality on earth listed as the quality of a leader. In my opinion, to be a leader 'one must practice what one preaches', be a role model for the followers, assumes responsibility and acts like a fatherly figure, be able to praise new and good ideas and be open to accept new things from followers. The list can be made never ending. But the above will make one reasonably successful as leader.

the best leader would have to be of course, a role model. a person you can look up to. a leader should know how to listen. a leader should get ask what his subordinates think about a certain policy, it gives his subordinate an impression that he listen to them and he makes them feeling that they belong to the team.
