i do a lot of crafts...and with that, i do a lot of cutting....i used to just do my cutting on thick cardboards pilled up, but after awhile, they will be full of cuts as these are not resistant enough against the sharp cutter blade. then i bought a rubberized cutting mat. it is quite expensive because i got the wide one. but i think it is worth it. it has been several years already but i still have it. along with it, i also bought a steel ruler that is two feet long. because the plastic ruler gets cut easily. i am happy with these things because as i am making crafts for baby's coming, they come in really handy. what about you? do you also do crafts? do you also have these gadgets? take care and God bless you!

Actually I do a bunch of crafts. Beading, sewing, cookie making, chocolate making, and really too many to list. And I have a cutting board just like yours too. But it's smaller. Yeah using thick cardboard works for a while but isn't good. Actually I've heard it can daul your cutter. Also for threading my needles to do my beading I bought this really great gadget I haven't used it yet. But it threads needles adn I've never seen one to look like it. It's not your normal threader it's hard to explain. But it almost looks like a little house with a smoke stack. But it's really small I think just as small as a quarter. My mom used it for her sewing stuff. And I kept going thru the basic threaders. So I bought it. But Ive yet to use it. I hope to make time real soon.

I don't have a cutting mat. I have a piece of paneling that is polyurethaned on one side. That side we use for a puzzle board, so when the kids want to do a puzzle, they put it together on that side. If I am crafting and need to do cutting, I use the other side of the puzzle board. I don't craft a ton, so it is works fine for my needs.

I find this cutting mat very useful specially when I'm doing some invitations that needs some cut out. It save my table from being ruined by the blade of the cutter. Though this is somehow expensive but I never regret buying one for my craft works.

Hi spoiled311! Yes, I do have a rubber mat and a steel ruler for my crafts. I make scrapbooks and personalized cards and these two crafts gadgets are really handy and very useful when I do my hobby. You're right, I have wasted one plastic ruler already because my cutter slipped through it while I was cutting a cardstock. Wow, good luck with your new baby! I hope that your new baby will be healthy. And enjoy doing your crafts!
