I am just wondering how much is the average salary in Philippines.
I have seen that salaries are very low, but hotels for example are really expensive. Why is that?
If I work in Philippines as an economist for example how much my salary would be?

It sounds like salaries are low in the Philippines but it is such a beautiful country I don't think it would matter. I am really keen on traveling and have noticed that some people are poor whilst rich tourists stay in really expensive hotels. In the Maldives some local people live on less than $1 a day. Some of the wealthy tourists stay on islands in accommodation that costs more than $100 a night. There are even some islands where accommodation is more than $500 a night. I noticed that most of the staff where from overseas.

I don't think if how much you going to earn, it depends on the company anyway. The minimum wages in Philippines is 170/hour. My friends had her salary for 5,000/ month working in the school office and that's equivalent to $120, the teacher salary is P10,000.00 and that's $238, not very good either, that's why lots of filipino working in US and overseas.

We have very small salaries here. Usual salary are P10,000 that would be more or less $250. For economist that would be in a higher salary compare to any profession but compare to your country I think it is still in a lower amount of money than if you work in your home.

If you'll be an economist, I think your salary will only range from $450-$650. Hotels, especially those that have five star rates, are really expensive because they follow international rates. But, yes, if you want assistance in terms of finding the right hotel, you can contact me. Add me as your friend first, of course.
