|  Did you know that today, November 18th is the 80th birthday of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse cartoon character.
It is interesting to me that when he started out he was a rather nasty little mouse and was called "Steam Boat Willie"

| |  steam boat willie was actually mortimer mouse, but many people attributed the toon as mickey, because mickey was the eventual winner in walt's mind, and he continued to draw mickey on a regular basis, but mortimer has occasional guest spots throughout mickeys adventures

| | Actually, Walt's wife Lillian suggested the name "Mickey" and that met with Walt's approval as Mortimer Mouse was considered to pretentious for the character of Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney did not ever draw Mortimer Mouse in an actual cartoon. Walt Disney.
The character of Mortimer Mouse did later appear but it was said to be:
a fictional character created by Floyd Gottfredson for The Walt Disney Company. He is Minnie Mouse's ranch-owning cattleman uncle.
Another character first called Monty Mouse and then Mortimer Mouse, Mickey's competition for Minnie's affections, was introduced in the 1936 cartoon short Mickey's Rival... There after, he would arrive on the scene trying to get Mickey away from Minnie. He though did not have the same physical appearance or voice as Mickey and was in fact a completely new character appearing in this cartoon.

| |  Happy 80th Birthday, to Mickey Mouse. I am a weird fan of Mickey Mouse. I love anything with the Mickey Mouse on it, but I do not watch the cartoon series. I think I just love the cute looking mouse! ;p

| |  wahooooooo didnt know it was but I was celibrating my grand d aughters birthday yesterday she turned 4.
and yup I used to watch the old Mickey mouse club with all the kids in it now my grnad daughter watches the new one I liked the kids much better .
