Velarian Root  

Valerian root is typically used for depression. It can creat vivid and lucid dreams though. I never found that the case with me though. I just felt like I was in a fog, even after I woke up. And it made me feel tired during the day, because I didn't go into a deep sleep at night.

Valerian is usually used for treatment of Insomnia, and this is the first time i have heard it used to enhance dreams. It has a mild sedative effect that may last longer than intended. Thus is using it for the first time do not drive or operate heavy machinery.

Valerian root is a sedative. In fact it's where the drug Valium originally comes from. It's great for insomnia or stress. I've used it at various times over the last 25 yrs. I can't say it ever made me dream. In fact just the opposite it lets me sleep peacefully through the night.

Perhaps your friend's suggestion of what it does influenced your subconscious.

I have only every taken valerian root to help me sleep when I was going through an insomnia phase. I did not experience any dream stuff.
