I found this really cool site that is different from a regular baby name site. I found it while bored at work a few weeks ago. Anyway its behindthename.com According to them my name, Melanie, is derived from the Greek name Melaina which means "black, dark." Apparently it was common during the middle ages, but almost became rare until the book "Gone With the Wind" featuring Melanie Wilkes. That was an interesting fact for me considering "Gone With the Wind" is my mom's favorite movie and that's where she got my name. What does behindthename.com say about your name?
