How to give a best response?

For many days ,I was wondering what this,"user has not selected a best response",when we post a discussion.We are allowed to rate a discussion to be positive ,negative or as abuse.From where this best response comes,I wonder.Today I am happy to see, I got a best response and now I am eager to know how to mark a best response to others.Can any senior mylotting people help me?
