What's happend to the San Diego Chargers?  email this discussion to a friend?

I heard this question on espn radio this morning. So I figured I'd talk about it.I blame this mostly on all the sports writers and all the so called football experts in the world for this teams horrible play. Before the season started, they did the power rankings of all the top teams in the AFC. And the people hand picked the Chargers to knock off the New england Patriots who of course had an un injured Tom Brady at the time. They said this team wa going to the super bowl this year. And with all the talent they have on offense, they have a loosing record. Are there any chargers fans out there that are disapointed in what this team has done this year? Ladainian Tomlison doesn't have Micheal Turner to pick up the slack for him anymore. From what I hear he's not %100. I don't know if that's true or not, but I look at this team like I look at the Colts every week. As a gambler of football games you think they are going to crush their next opponent just off name recognition. But you realize that these teams are not as powerful as they were in the past.

I myself did think the Chargers were going to win their division this year. The main reason I believe they have not done well is because of their defense. Even with Shawn Merriman I predicted in my preseason preview this year that their defense would not be very good. Now without Merriman it is even worse. I did think however that their offense would be able to carry them to double digit wins, but they did have some injuries on the offensive line early on, as well as RB Ladianian Tomlinson not being healthy and WR Chris Chambers also missing some time. However, I believe Norv Turner, their new head coach also must take some blame. TE Antonio Gates has not been as big a part of the offense as he should be, and Chambers has virtually disappeared since coming back from being injured. Turner had this team throwing the ball way too much, but I guess some of that had to do with them being down in games where you would have to throw the ball more. However, when you have LT at RB, you need to run the ball more, especially to keep your defense off the field, because as I said, teams have not had alot of trouble scoring on them this season. Darren Sproles is no slouch at RB either, and although the owner says Turner's job is not in trouble, if I were a Chargers fan I know I would want him out!

I forggot the name of the coach that was there before Turner, but the team was better before Turner cami in. I don't see why you would let go of a guy who's team makes it to the playoffs every season. The Chargers bring in Turner and a whole entirely new staff and they are no better than they were before.

I think it was Marty Schottenheimer. In my opinion Norv Turner has never been a good coach. The talent he had on some of the old Redskins teams got him by, but as a coach he has never done anything really impressive, and this year what he has done to the Chargers really backs me up on that front. I know if I were a Charger fan I certainly wouldn't be happy with what he has done with this team.
