When I go shopping I prefer to pay for my things with a live cashier instead of those automated self service checkers because those self service machines malefaction sometimes, and they ask you to repeat the same actions over again and they get on my nerves, I like dealing with a real person when comes to paying for my things. how about you do you like using self service when shopping or real cashier?

Well, a live cashier is "included" in the price I am paying, so I insist on it. Why should I pay that price and do the work myself? And the machines go on the blink, and there is no one to help, and if it rings up the wrong price, you gotta find someone to help and if it credits you card wrong or something - to many things can go wrong in the "do it yourself" world. And since i am paying for the use of a live person - I am going to take it.

Hi there apples99 I usually go to the live cashier unless I only have one or two items. Sometimes it can take you longer on the self service because there is sometimes someone infront of you who doesn't have a clue what they are doing, that person is usually me!! While I am still unloading my trolley the kind cashier will usually start packing my bags for me too and she can swipe my club card and take my vouchers all of which I seem to have problems with on the self service till. I hate it when it tells you to put the item in the bag when you already have or tells you that there is an unidentified item in the till area when there is nothing there!!

I know only 2 places that have the self scan they are walmart and stop and shop which is where I work. And I like going through the self scan since it actually takes quicker for me to go through. And I usally go through the self scan unless if I have a big order and there no lines.

Live cashier all the way, I'm not into techo things at all and shy away from self service tills. When I go to do the weekly supermarket shop I always go on a till that I have been on before so I can have a chat as the shopping is going through. The highlight of the supermarket shop.

I will use both lines, but my decision is based on if I am in a hurry or not. Usually, not always, I am able to get in and out of the self-service line a lot faster than waiting for a cashier. I like the self-service line for an added convenience.

Me personaly if I have limited number of items like 3-4 I'll go with the self check out. Some times I notice it's quicker and it's always nice to just do it and go. I don't mind it at all. I notice that a lot more people prefer a chasier as self check out isn't used as much (in our grocery store) that's perhaps the main reason why we use it because less of a line up.

Yeah I hate the way the machines malfunction but sometimes its just weird with a cashier, I mean somethings are just too personal to have some random person messing with.
