Here's some ways that you can help your business out. First create your business. I take it you are self employed right? Well you need one common area that your clients can come to go gain information on you. I am a free lance photographer and designer so I know about what goes into promoting yourself and your work as a self employed individual.

First things firs you don't want to be spending a TON of money if that's so and if your like me you should check out www.freewebs.com. I have made my photography website there www.serenityphotography.webs.com. You can see what I've done there.

Because you do web design here is your time to shine. The best way to promote yourself is by showing your capabilities via whatever means possible this includes your own web page.

It was tough when I first started out and it kind of diminished my confidence in my abilities it's then when you have to 'keep at it' I built my website and no one was visiting :( darn right. Wrong I kep posting on all the forums I could my website at free webs then someone from the site wanted to promote my website. Talk about confidence central. It wasn't so much that I was getting hits it was that I was recognized and someone took the time to promote my site on the main site page for 2 months. That gave me the confidence i needed for the big push. So I did what any self employed individual should do. I created business cards on www.zazzle.com. and had them printed off for only 15 dollars for 100. I started to show my work to my co workers, even made a group on facebook. Facebook is a VERY strong means of advertising your work as it basically works like word of mouth. I mad a group in Facebook called Serenity Photography. invited all my friends and then they would advertise me to their friends if they liked my work. I put examples of my work on the group site then I gave them the link to my site as that's where you really want people to go.

I have finally just got around to making flyers and posting them up over the town. You should look to do the same thing. Because everyone is turning ot the net these days many people are in need of a web designer and your prices will make it easy for them to go with you instead of the higher priced individuals who make it hard for the hobbiest to get quality work for a decent price. Think of it this way the worst they can say is no. The best is yes or that they know someone who can get your name out there. The entire point to doing any business on your own is to get your name out there. Start small and build from there. I strongly suggest you have one place where you can show off your talents and so every client can go to get a sneak peak at what your able to create for them. It's easier for you and for clients to have one base where they can get information. Then you can direct them towards certain templates from there that you have stored on various sites etc. But make sure you have a base point and span from there.
