what really purpose of karaoke? I think is for the one who's not a good singer at all, but when I go in any karaoke place I found the people who sing are the good one. What you think my friend do you think its unfair for those who one to sing but can't do because their are people have good voice and take attention of all people.

miamhae, In the first place, karaoke, originating in Japan (Kobe to be exact Karaoke is a Japanese abbreviated compound word: "kara" comes from "karappo" meaning empty, and "oke" is the abbreviation of "okesutura," or orchestra. Usually, a recorded popular song consists of vocals and accompaniment. Music tapes in which only the accompaniment is recorded were named "karaoke.") is actually a typical form of entertainment for Japanese business people; they drop into a bar with colleagues after work, have a drink, and enjoy singing popular songs to the accompaniment of karaoke. Karaoke has been entertaining people ever since its invention 20 years ago, and has become firmly established in Japanese society, going far beyond just a temporary boom. From ancient times, a party become enlivened when someone started singing and the others kept time with hand-clapping, making the atmosphere more cheerful. It has never mattered whether the person sings well or not. Even if he sings out of tune, it can spark laughter and make the party more lively. Having such a custom, the Japanese are generous when they listen to other people sing, and can easily sing in front of others without feeling reluctance. This also seems to be one of the reasons that karaoke has been largely accepted in Japanese society and later it is with the essence of this spirit Karaoke has been spreading throughout the world. Holding a microphone and singing a song to the accompaniment of an "orchestra," you can feel like a professional singer. If other customers give you a big hand, you feel all the happier. Karaoke has thus stimulated people's desire to sing. For the working class living in a stressful society, there is no other entertainment that can make them feel so refreshed and relieved. So, in a way Karaoke is also known to be a stress reliever. So, it does not or rather should not matter if he / she is going to be out of tune or inexperience. At the end of day, the purpose is for everyone to be able to enjoy himself or herself. If one is not so confident then the better party can always help and encourage the other. I think we need to remember that this is a recreation not some "I want to be a Star" show. No one is going to laugh at you or criticize you. It is simply a party where proactive and unabashed is encouraged.

I sing Karaoke occasionally. More often than not when it's when I am drunk, but when I sing, I vary between being great and have once been booed off the stage. But my thinking is that whenever I do it, it's not in my local area, and therefore I will never see any of these people ever again. It gives me the confidence to really belt the song out. And my signature song is Creep by Radiohead

Well I think most not really have a good voice sing when they drunk, shameless after all...lol , I do sing even in our village, I don't care about my neighbor say about my voice, all I wanted id to have fun... So if they laugh I give them the microphone to sing a song if they really good.. I think if you can sing when you drunk, you have a voice quality but its cant come out because you are shy in public and the comment they said. thanks my friends... Good day

Wether one can sing or not, this is for all to do if they so choose.: ) I think those that can sing, & I am one of those, and I do Kareoke too, The others who cannot sing can TRY to learn from hearing those that can. Kareoke when you go out to do it, is for Everyone.: ) If a person can't sing & woulwd be imbarrassed to let someone else hear them, then they shouldn't sing in the public. Kareoke can help those who can sing to find a Talent scout too.

I don't sing in karaoke or videoke.I am not really a good singer.I would rather watch my friends who love to sing.I would rather eat the food served and have a good time eating.I don't really join nights out in videoke bars.
