How many of you actually join group exercise classes regularly? Do you join because you get a good workout? Or because you get to workout with friends and at the same time have fun(Yes it can be fun :) ) Or because the instructor is just super hot :p But seriously, what makes you join/avoid group exercise classes? And if you do join, what kind of group exercise classes do you join? (ie Choreographed like Les Mills, or just freestyle classes)

I use to go to a group muay thai/kick boxing class. I did it because I had fitness goals. I think having fitness goals is a good way to stay in a class for a long time. Otherwise one might lose the motivation. The class I went to utilized this method by giving new members a sheet to write short term goals and long term goals and kept them on file. They interacted with members and kept track of the goals to encourage members to stay in the class.

I take group exercise classes 5-6 days a week. I take one or two group exercise classes a day. I started taking classes when my weight loss hit a Plataea that seemed never ending. My sister was taking a Zumba class and since I like to dance I thought why not try it. My first class was hard and I didn't even think I would be able to finish it. Good news is I did and I keep going back and it is getting easier and easier. I have been consistently loosing weight since starting taking these classes in November. Since I liked Zumba I decides to also try Les Mills Body Pump. I LOVE IT! It is a great workout and since I started that class I can defiantly see definition in my body. I am loving the results of the classes and I am feeling great with the extra energy and endorphins they have been giving me. I do love my instructor. Her abs are amazing and I hope to one day become and instructor and help people reach their goals just like she is helping me. I work at home so going out to the gym in the evenings is great for me. I get to interact with other adults and be social. I meet my sister and one of my friends every night. We encourage each other to keep going and together we are going to reach our weight loss goal. At first I did not like leaving my son. That is 1-2 hours a night that I want to be with him and play and watch him learn. However I know that 1-2 hours a day is going to give me more time with him. I want to watch him grow up and I don't want to die young and miss out. I am 58 pounds down and today my 2 year old son said "Mommy you shrunk a little bit". He called me his "Little Mommy" all day. I know I made the right choice. ZUMBA AND BODY PUMP are great classes and I highly recommend them.

I don't join any group exercise class, because it's not convenient for me to join any gym classes. It'd be really fun to work out in a group of friends, not only we can motivate each other, we can always build up our relationship too. I used to play badminton, basketball and jogging with my colleagues after work, it was really fun. Sometimes, even though I feel lazy to go exercise, they will encourage me to do so. ^_^
