|  i was lost last night and had approached a local to ask for directions. i had just started talking when suddenly he gave me a "talk to the hand" gesture. I was very hurt and felt really sad. i don't look intimidating in person and this is the first time that someone has done this to me. how would you react if someone did this to you?

| |  WOW! That is REALLY rude! Was it a teenage boy? Because, I'm not trying to use stereotypes but it's usually teenage boys that are complete losers like that.. If you were like, bothering him or something that would be understandable but all you wanted was directions.. That's unfair for them to do that to you.
If someone did that to me, I'd probably get angry and say that all I wanted was directions, nothing else. I'd feel hurt but angry that someone would do that.

| | Wow, even if you grew up in a bad neighborhood it can still rattle you a bit & maybe make you a lil angry.
Where I live people walk through, and in front of our driveway all the time.
One time , I was backing out in my truck. I had looked through my mirrors & back window but I still missed these 2 teens or 20 yr olds, that were about to cross my path.
After I backed out they proceeded to walk across the driveway entrance. I stopped & rolled down my window & politely said "Sorry hon, I didn't see you".
She quickly said one word(while twisting her neck) & didn't even look @ me and they both didnt break their walking stride. I said"Sorry I didn't hear?" Then the teen boy who was with her said angrily "She said GOOD!".
I thought about saying to her" Why are you desperate to look tough." BUt I am glad I just held my tongue. I just smiled & started driving. I could have gotten all ghetto on her but,,NU-UH... Its not worth it & I tried to remind myself to have compassion for her.
NOPE, it wasnt easy, I am no saint, BUT I thought, what in the world would make me react to her ? She is just a kid trying to prove herself, I am not going to let that control my actions.
Now if I could only remind myself of that when I go grocery shopping!..LOL
I come outta there wanting to body slam some people sometimes!..LOL
