Who still uses CD-ROM? |
| |
| Just asking about this legacy media the CD-ROM. Lots of medias today are DVD formats except for music medias. All my VCD's here at home original/copy, I got them distributed anywhere. So as my CD games, I make them ISO and burned it on a DVD. I cleaned all CD formats in this house. Softwares?.. hmmm I throw them somewhere because I hate it software easily changes version. and for drivers can be downloaded free on the manufacturers site. Except for music audio CDs. I kept them of course with some signature of the local artists here. hehe | | | | | |

| | I still have my CD-ROM drives here but they're not installed on my computer. I find it handy though especially when i install Windows because i think it's a lot faster than my DVD-RW ROM. I have some little files on CD though like my backup for pictures and some important softwares for my computer like drivers. I have Tool cds but i keep them because i'm afraid i might scratch it hehe. I don't any VCDs anymore because it's pretty much inconvenient to be playing movies then stopping in the middle just to change Disc 1 to Disc 2. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, CD-ROM drives like 52x-60x reads faster than DVD-ROM drives. I see, so you still keep it for backup. That is great. And to VCDs, like 2-4 Discs or something. It's just the same as games. Like I have Silent Hill 2. Consumes 3 CDs and Metal gear 2: Substance consumes 5 CDs. I'm now relieved that they are in 1 DVD. xD | | | |

| | Yeah I remember my friend too. He's so excited to buy Metal Gear and it took a lot of discs so it costs him a lot too because locally it's on a per cd basis when it comes to costs. | | | |

| | No, I didn't say to throw away your CDs. It just I have a tiny home and I need space to other things. CDs have eaten a lot of space in my room, So I did putting them to DVDs and some to harddrives. Of course, We still have CD players incase. No, I don't want to be praised either. My point is how are people doing with CDs today now we have cheap DVDs in market. So how about you? ^^ | | | |

| | I still use cd's specially in softwares. I burn always burn winxp in cd's because it's much cheaper. I have lots of backup because I occasionally format my laptop and my computer. I think I'll use a dvd in vista.. But if large games like red alert 3 and most games right now it'll definitely won't fit on a single cd so dvd's work best for it. Most large files nowadays are purely games while most applications are small so cd works for it.. And by the way, I don't use dvd most of the time I prefer a USB flash drive because it's more faster, easy to carry and more durable than cd's or dvd's.. | | | | | | |

| | i rarely use discs at all unless for backup but dvd's are the only thing capable of storing all the stuff on my comp without using 3 full 20 dollar cases (i have close to 70 gb of stuff on my comp and all of it is neccessary although i could use an external hard drive or somethin) but i transefer stuff using mp3 players as flash drives (yes it works like a charm the stuff wont play on the mp3 but it all can be stored) and i have most otha stuff done through the net or my personal home network (we have 4 comps on the network). | | | | | | |

| | hi friend, i could not join your group. i still have a cd-rw drive at home and i am using the cd-roms till date. so many new things are released in dvd format and for that i bring to my office and write them on cds if i need to use them at home. but i am finding it difficult and i have to get dvd drive to keep cope with. shortly cds will become obsolete, as it appears. happy mylotting.. | | | | | | |
