Do you think De La Hoya should retire?  email this discussion to a friend?

I have not seen The Pacquio fight. But I do know that De La Hoya has lost his second straigt fight if I'm correct. I heard them talking about this fight on espn radio earlier yesterdy afternoon. And one of the guys said that they weren't paying to see this fight. They said that $55 was too much to pay to see a guy like De La Hoya fight. This fight wasn't show casing 2 up and comming studs. These are 2 fighters that are on their way out. This is all according to the radio anylists. They believe that De La Hoya should have been retired, and this should be his last fight. They believe that cahrging $55 for payper view is too much to see a guy like De La Hoya who no one really has any interest in. If this is correct, it would sound like De La Hoya doesn't have alot of fans anymore. Not to say that anyone doesn't like him personaly, but as someone who sells out alot of tickets when he has a match, I would believe that not many people go to see this guy based off of what I hear on the radio. So what do you think? Is it time for the golden boy to hang it up?

Manny Pacquiao dominated the fight from the get-go. De La Hoya's eye was swollen shut and they decided to not answer the bell for the ninth round anymore, conceding the fight to PacMan.

Two fighters on their way out? Manny is just 27 or 28 at this point. He's considered by many as the best pound for pound fighter right now. To come up by two weight classes to dominate De La Hoya was amazing. They missed a great performance if they thought that way. Of course Manny is NOT an up and coming stud, he IS a stud already.

For De La Hoya though, he really needs to contemplate retiring. Even the trainers could see how slow his reaction time is compared to Manny Pacquiao. He got dominated by a fighter who, just earlier this year wasn't fighting anyone above 130 pounds. He's been losing matches left and right for the past 4 years or so. He needs to consider retiring while he still hasn't lost too many matches to matter in the public eye.

I saw the fight between the two boxers earlier today. I agree that Oscar should contemplate on retiring. By the way he played in that match, he's way too slow for Manny.

I had some money on pacquio through my online betting. I was a little worries because this was a personal fight for de la hoya in that he signed paquio to golden boy productions, and later found out that paquio also signed a deal with dela hoya's rival company as well. I had a feeling de la hoya was going to get some revenge as his comments in the interview leading up to the fight said it was personal for him. But I agree, I'm not familiar with pacquio, but seeing him on the commercials, I never thought he was that old. I know oscar has been around for a while, and has lost his last couple of fights. They said on the radio that pacquios speed couldn't match up with de la hoyas strength. Looks like they were wrong.

I am a big DLH fan but I definately think it is time for him to retire. In his prime, he was one of the best but he is past it now. I have never seen De La Hoya been dominated as he was against Pacman. It could of been to the fact that he had to lose so much weight but who knows. De La Hoya is the biggest moneymaker for boxing. His fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao will generate hundreds of millions. Trust me, 90% of people in the audience for the fight were rooting for Oscar. He has many, many fans but it is time for him to hang up the gloves.

I saw the fight, quite several peple here in the Phils. doubted Manny Pacquiao can make it, considering the advantages of De La Hoya. Others felt that maybe this would be the first defeat of Pacquiao. Alhough almost all believe that considering his rigid training, his patience and self confidence, Manny will still make it. When the fight came, even me I was surprised it's the reverse De la Joya seemed to be the underdog. Maybe he had to prove himself again before retiring.
