| Hi, i'm using Window Vista Home Edition . and sometimes it really pissed me off with its bugging, especially its uncompatiblity with other programs which are important to my studies. in otherwise, i realy like, the graphic design of it, and its new fonctionnalities like Fast-search, the user security, and other stuff, and i just can't go back to XP . now, i'll try to upgrade to windows Vista Business edition, people told that's better. what about you ? are you using Vista Business Edition , tell me about it? or just tell me about your current OS . | | | | | |

| | I got a new laptop for my birthday (October) so it already came with windows vista. It hasn't been unreliable yet. I actually like it now that I've been using it for a little while | | | | | | |

| | hi dear after using your system for some days..vista will make your system very slower..it uses lot of processing speed..you will see the difference later in 2 months better to change your os to windows xp with the help of laptop company technician now itself..after having many datas in your system it will be hard to change the os.. thanks adhavgeek | | | |

| | i don't think having a lot of data will make it hard for you to switch os. as long as you back up your data somewhere safe, you good to go. | | | |

| | I'm using XP right now, and it's still the best OS for me so far. No one can argue with me since I've use Vista in the past and it just doesn't suit me and my expectation. hehehe :) XP is compatible to almost all programs and is more efficient and fast compared to Vista. But there's one thing I like about Vista though, it's GUI. It's very appealing and unique. If only Vista is as good as XP in terms of it's functionality, I could be using Vista right now. | | | | | | |

| | hi dear awissa i was having windows vista home edition in my laptop..i didnt like vista.it makes my system speed slowers and also hectic..i tried to install windows xp that fails because my hp laptop was designed for windows vista but i can install windows xp by breaking my laptop warranty..i dont want to take risk..so i jumped into linux ubundu os,its simply superb..total size of ubundu os is like xp only 700MB but it has all options like windows vista..it can automatically detect every components in your system and install their drive..and very secured when compared to vista and xp..even you dont want to assign ip address for internet also just you have to plug in the ethernet cable thats all..it will connect internet within 10sec..it became comfortable for me but if you are going to use windows softwares, than it will not be comfortable for you..i have heared about (open suse linux version 11) which is same like xp but os is linux it also installs all windows softwares and works like xp only..that os quite famous now a days..better google it..os free to download.. thanks adhavgeek | | | | | | |

| | hi awissa, - You get g++ on linux, as a possible replacement for your BC++, unless you really need the windows headers, but then again, you can develop xwindows apps using Qt or gtk. - you can get java6 jdk on linux either from the repositories (apt-get in ubuntu/debian) or from Sun binaries. - you can install eclipse either from linux repositotiries or install using the tar.gz from eclipse.org - I am not sure about MatLab, but in any case, you can run Windows applications in Linux using either WINE or CrossOver. The other responses here have already excellently commented on how to do the multi-booting, so I cannot add anymore. Thanks | | | |

| | i'm using windows xp. i like it very much. i can say im more comfortable using it than vista which i tried for a week then downgraded my o.s. to xp again. if you asked me 4 years before if i like windows xp, i would say no, coz then it has so many bugs and needs a lot of fixing. but now with sp2 i could say its perfect for me. | | | | | | |

| | I have Ubuntu, a LINUX-based OS. It blows Windows away because 1) it's nearly impossible to get a virus; 2) it takes up a fraction of the disc space that Windows does; and 3) it's 100% free. | | | | | | |

| | It is easy, look at MY triple boot setup lol. Ubuntu makes it easy to use both if you have enough disk space. Just start the Ubuntu installer, it will show you. | | | |

| | Linux is fine, but it's almost impossible to use 100% of the time as a desktop OS. Please, don't think I'm lacking the skills; I've been using Linux for 10 years and I've written parts of it lol...But anyway, I've tried moving solely to Linux so many times but I always get pulled back to the dark side by my need to run Windows software, such as Visual Studio, MatLab, MathCad, and Chinese support in Linux is crap...Linux is fine if you can get by with open source software, but if you're forced to use certain Windows apps because of work, college etc. you'll be frustrated because you can only use it 50% of the time, and what's the point? That's just not convenient at all. Gah. One day I'll get away from all this Microsoft crap. Good luck to you though Swerdna - Keep spreading the word -_- | | | |
