Would you ever donate money to a filmmaker for his film to be made?

Let's say a filmmaker who's trying to get his foot in the door is trying to make a film that'll cost him say 50,000 altogether, for the sake of argument and he put out some ad for people to donate a certain amount be it $10 or $20 each so he can make the film, in return for their names to be listed in the credits for helping finance it. Would you do it? If the guy was really honest, sincere, not a scam artist that is. If so, what would help you trust him better?

Well.. I know a film maker and I am befriended with him. I think I would not be able to invest or help him by donating some money because I would need some money myself. BUT I help him by volunteering in his next production so it would help him so much in the making of the movie because he got a one free worker around. I know it would only help him a little but he likes it because it means I really wanted to help him in making something. I don't have money, that what he knew, so I think it would be good to be able to help in the other way

So none of you guys would donate $10-$20 to the filmmaker? Just one $10 or $20 from each person, I mean is that really a lot? What about $1? Would you donate that if he asked a dollar from everyone?

I will help as much as I can, but I am not earning money for my own and I need money for a living. A dollar or two might not be a problem to me but it would not help a lot for someone who would make a movie. If I really want to help him make a movie, not only money I should give, but also the help he would need
