I Know, I Know, Hubby does it/Boyfriend Does it> |

| I can't find my favorite handyman. My front porch light is not working, I changed the bulb and put in one of those energy saving light bulbs, I heard a little sizzling sound and the light went out. I tried the regular bulb again and it would not come on. I have this handyman that I always use because I don't have a hubby or a boyfriend. I can't seem to locate him. Maybe his is off visiting for the holidays. Do you have a favorite handyman? | | | | | |

| | Hi Chevee, I have four light bulbs in the front roam and two in the bathroom and whenever one goes off my hubby takes so long to change the light bulb, I keep telling him but he just say I do it, I doit. But when? if I can reach the darn thing I would change it myself, so useless some men, he does it eventually. Hugs. Tamara | | | | | | |

| | Hi tamara... I waited 2 YEARS for my ex (then husband) to paint the front of our house! I mean, this was 2 years AFTER we had bought the paint!!! You know when he did it? Yep, it was after I got out the ladder, brushes, tarps, etc. and started painting it myself! Yeah, some men! | | | |

| | Yeah, sigh! Moi. I've found that the fastest way to get it done is to do it myself. I've learned how do to a whole bunch of things that way! First and most important thing to know about dealing with anything electrical is to make sure the electricity is off! I learned that lesson the hard way! Of course, what you describe is something I wouldn't try to do by myself anymore. When I was younger, sure, but not now! Which end did the sizzling sound come from, the switch or the bulb? Whichever end it was, that's what needs to be replaced. It's really not hard but I don't mess with electricity these days. My body doesn't like it when I climb ladders anymore! If it's a switch, that's easy! Just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one, after connecting the wires, of course, AND after making sure the circuit breaker or fuse to that switch is off! Other than that, I usually have to wait until my husband gets around to it. If it's something important inside the house, he'll do it pretty quickly but the light over our garage door was out for months before he got to it. I wish you luck in finding your handyman! | | | | | | |

| | It came from the bulb area. I have changed many of the light switches myself. I am a handy woman, it is certain things like electricity I just don't even attempt to bother. I hate for someone to come looking for me and find me fried, dried and laying to the side. | | | |

| | I am in the same boat as you, Chevee, having neither a husband or boyfriend. I pay a retired builder to mow my large, uneven yard with a ride-on so, if I need other jobs done, I usually ask him to do them. He built the fence for Fergus' yard and recently built me a large rabbit hutch. My sons all do woodwork and metalwork at school so, hopefully, they will be able to take over some of the handyman jobs soon. | | | | | | |
