i would say one should consider things like how big a family would i need to accommodate, which would affect the number of rooms and the price range another thing to consider is the location, how far would your family have to travel if they were coming to visit, what schools are near by and the crime rate in the area.
also make sure that you have a professional architect and engineer to take a look at the house and make sure that your not just paying for out word looks alone
buying a house i a very big steep i can go on and on about things to consider but most of all make sure what you buy is within your budget and additional work needed would not cost too much good luck

Buying real estate is one of the biggest and best investments that you will make in your life. You want to treat it as such. You first want to consult a professional that will protect and represent you in this endeavor. A professional will be able to incorporate your needs and wants in the transaction and act on your behalf. As a buyer a real estate agent is a free service to you. I can't think of a reason that you wouldn't use one.

I just bought a new house and waiting to move in on January. Before I bought it I'd consider a few things.
1. Affordability
2. Financing
3. Enough space for the family
4. Traffic
5. I look for area that is near to people, so there will be less crime there.
