I just went out so I could go to pick up some nutritional drink for when Mom comes home and get my daughter's Christmas present and my back tire is flat, flat, flat! I went to check my spare and found a can of emergency tire fix, so I tried it. It looked like it was working, but then I saw the nail - a big one, sticking out of the side. Well, that didn't last long because the foamy gas from the can came right out of that hole faster than it went into the tire, so it's flat again, dammit! Now I have to wait until my friend can come pick me up so I can go to see Mom at the hospital. I'm also hoping my daughter's boyfriend can come by so I can use his AAA to get my spare tire put on. It's not that I don't know how to do it, but I just don't have it in me to do that kind of stuff any more. I mean, there was a time when I was all sorts of willing to do things like that on my car - I even put new brake shoes on my Datsun way back when (which was interesting since I had to figure out how to open the calipers without the proper wrenches - but, once the line is drained, there is no pressure - piece of cake). But now - I just have no desire to get down and dirty, so to speak. Obviously, Monday has caught up with me. I was feeling pretty darned good this morning, what with Mom doing better in the hospital and all. Poop!!! So, have you had a day like this, that started out pretty decent but ended by catching up with you? How did you deal with it?

Jerzgirl - you are so funny. I do hope that it is fixed by now. I just hate getting flat tyres. and no, I can't change one at all so I am glad that you have someone coming to do it for you. I hope that your MOm is better now and perhaps she will be home for Christmas. Just let go of it all. It's small stuff in the run of things. Not worthing raising your blood pressure over. Let's hope nothing else happens. do these things happen tome? all the time, all the time. Blessings

This happened to us before on christmas, my autns driveway was in such bad shape it gave us a flat tire, we spent a half hour on the side of the road changing it in the cold. I wish i would have thought to use the batrhoom before I left! Im sorry to hear about your day, very inconvenient in many ways, tomorrow will be much better for you.

I think everyone has a bad day like that once in a while. About 20 some years ago in the middle of July, I had a wonderful day. At that time we were in the electronic sales and service business and we were a satellite system dealer. A good customer of mine who lived 30 or so miles from our business purchase a new satellite system from me. At that time all of the systems were what was designated as "C band" system and the dishes that we were installing were of the 10 and 12 foot variety. A very important part of the installation was to place an 8 foot 4 inch in diameter pipe in the ground at least 27 inches deep and fill the hole with concrete. The pipe has to be perfectly vertical in order for the system to track the satellite belt properly. The customer said he could handle that with not problem. He was a farmer and used to that type of work. Two days later we were to deliver and set up the system. The morning didn't start out like we planned, we figured to leave the store by 8 and be finished with the installation and be back home by 6 or 7 in the evening. No sooner had we loaded the truck and tied down the large fibre glass 10 dish, than my helper's wife called and she had to be taken to the hospital, as she was pregnant and the baby was due to arrive any day. I called my customer and he said that he and his son could help with the installation and he would like for me to come and get they system set up that day. I agreed and jumped in the truck and headed his way. All of the roads on the way were 2 lane roads and I had to make sure not to let the large dish extend over the center line. About 5 miles from the customer's house I met a large semi truck and the blast of wind caused a rope to snap and the dish blew off the back of the truck into the ditch along side the road. There were no cell phones in those days, so I had to leave the dish there and drive on to the customer's house for help to reload the dish (which only had a few scratches on it) back on the truck and journey on to the customer's house. We unloaded the dish and mount and I proceeded to check and make sure the pipe he installed was perfectly plumb. To my dismay it was a whole half bubble out of plumb on a 2 foot level. This means the dish wouldn't track the satellite belt and he wouldn't be able to get reception from all of the satellites. I asked him if he used a level when he poured the concrete to make sure the pipe was plumb. He said the glass vial in his level was broken so he and his son just "eyed it" and thought it would be ok. I told him he would have to dig around the pipe about six inches and re-pour the concrete and make sure it was level. I left my level with him and showed him how to use it. I got back in my truck and headed back to our store, the whole day was a complete waste. So Yes, I've had a bad day or two. P.S. The young man's wife had a baby boy that day.

Hi Jerzgirl, A friend told me one time that I was like the character in the "Lil Abner" newspaper funnies. He was the guy with the cloud and rain that followed him everywhere he went. Notice my avatar: That's me several years ago when I was in the military service. At that time I was in stationed at Dhahran in Saudi Arabia. That is one of our rescue trucks that was stuck in the desert sand. The temperature was about 130 degrees and there wasn't any shade. It took us almost two days to get that truck un-stuck. We were on a resuce training mission in the middle of the desert. There weren't any roads, we were just traveling across the desert.

I went over to my neighbors and asked if he would give my son a ride to work..This is 10:30 pm...he said yes, of course.... Thank goodness for good neighbors.. I hope all is well with your mom...Hugs to the family.. Last week I went to the doctor..ended up getting a flu shot..now I am sick...and my youngest grandson keeps spiking a fever since Thursday last week..so no sleep around here....hopefully things will get back to normal soon..
