Smashing Pumpkins Fans!  

Are you sure you got your dates right? Billy Corgan reformed the Smashing Pumpkins last year (2007) with the release of the "Zeitgeist" album, bannered by the single "Tarantula". So I wouldn't call this current news anymore nor the CD "new" anymore.

While I'm glad that Billy Corgan is finally musically active again (after that ill-conceived idea of touring with New Order), I wouldn't call Zeitgeist a real Smashing Pumpkins album. D'Arcy Wretzky and James Iha were not part of that album. Zeitgeist was an entirely Billy Corgan album and if I recall correctly, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has said in interviews before that he went into the recording sessions believing that it would be a real reunion album, only to be disappointed that D'arcy and James weren't part of the band. If you read between the lines, it's almost like Jimmy's saying Billy Corgan tricked him into believing that the whole band would reunite. This album is a disappointment. I'm still waiting for a true reunion album - not this album put up by two of the band's four original members.
