Receiving bad news on your birthday

Have you ever received bad news on your birthday? My husband's birthday was last week, and he received a call from the temp agency that he was working for. They told him that they no longer were going to need him on the current assignment he'd been working on. We were really bummed about it because he'd been out of work for like 5 months when he started working again, and it was only for like 3-4 weeks. Now we're in the process of trying to get his uneployment restarted. He'd been on unemployment before he started working, and we're hoping he can get back on it.
