Travel in Europe? email this discussion to a friend?

I travelled relatively a lot for business reasons before retirement, but always in a hurry, and busy caring about the bosses, instead of enjoying of myself.

It was my wish to travel around in its real sense after retirement. But with age and health issues, I get stuck if I really should step out. My husband has no interest in travel, he has no objection to my travel, though.

Any elderly lady who have the knowledge and experience of travel abroad, your advice is highly appreciated.

You are so fortune that although your husband doesn't want to travel around Europe he is happy for you to do so. I traveled around Europe by train when I was 18 years old and I have been on man more trips there since then. My favorite cities in Europe are Prague, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Salzburg and Lisbon. Smaller places can be really lovely and relaxing compared to big cities like Cesky Kromlov in the Czech Republic. The villages in Germany along the Romantic Road and in Bavaria are well worth seeing because they are so picturesque. I suggest that you look at a map of Europe and write a list of the places you want to see. There is so much to see but because you are retired I suggest a slow pace and comfortable accommodation. Having said that I met a lady over 60 years old that stayed in youth hostels in Scandinavia. Happy traveling. happyhappy

Appreciate your response, and give me a hint when you feel like to visit Shanghai.

You are welcome. China is one of the countries on my travel wish list. It would be great to visit Shanghai and travel around by train.
