Homemade CDs for Christmas gifts?

We don't have an official gift exchange at work but I kind of feel like I should get something for my bosses and co-workers since there are only five of us total. I don't have a lot of disposable cash this season (who does?) so I don't want to spend a lot. I have gone over a dozen and a half ideas but with each one comes a fault (this person doesn't like chocolate, that person doesn't read for pleasure...). So yesterday I thought of making CDs for each of them, most likely with holiday music, and then giving them each $5 or $10 gift cards to somewhere I know they'll like. Is this an appropriate gift for co-workers for Christmas? How would you feel if someone you had worked with for three years gave you a homemade Christmas CD?
