Yesterday is Dong zhi, do you still eat tang yuan at home?

Yup, yesterday i did eat tang yuan.. hehe^_^ But i dunno it's dong zhi yesterday as my mom will cook them occasionally.. lol=D Thus i thought it's just eating for fun, and so i din take note of the festival yesterday.. hehe

NO wonder i keep seeing the dong zhi explaination on tv recently.. haha

i don't keep track of such things really.

when i have a craving for tang yuan, i head down to NTUC and buy a pack to cook.

but i thought tang yuan is nearing qing ming. or was is the dumpling period that is near qing ming.

we have so many of such "festivals" is so hard to keep track. they don't even have them stated on calenders. how do people know which day to celebrate what?

I am from Singapore too. I have enjoyed my share of tang yuan too. It was part of our culture but those with fillings are really tasty. Even on normal days, I may buy ah-balling with peanut soup for my desert. Btw, welcome to MyLot and hope you will enjoy your stay here. Cheers...

Hi, good to see somebody who also brings about the Dong Zhi for discussion. Dong Zhi means Winter Arrival. In our practice, we usually eat Ti Pang (pig's thigh or leg?) and other nourishing food. Actually for the whole winter along, the body needs to be taken good care of to get replenished for another busy year.

I like Tang Yuan (dumbling?), and we eat Tang Yuan in the mid of lunar-year January, another occasion for family reunion.
