First Monk season the best?

I got the first Season of Monk for Christmas and I just finished watching the first episode (Mr. Monk and the Candidate). Am I the only one who thinks his crime solving was more interesting when nobody wanted to listen to him? For example, in this episode, the police don't really want his help and are quick to write off his theories (such as two murders in two different towns being related) because of his condition only to be proven wrong.

I didn't see the first seasons either. Kept forgetting and then I didn't have cable, but now I'm playing catch up. A lot of people miss his first assistant, but the new one does pretty good. But, as for them not being sure he knew what he was talking about, I can see that being legitimate and I can see the progression from not trusting him to believing he makes sense being a logical move. I think I'd actually have to see the first season to understand just how different it is. But, I love the show. Can't wait for the next Monk marathon.
