| What the 'i' in Nintendo DSi stands for!  | | | |  Hey everyone,
Many people have been wondering why on earth Nintendo added the 'i' on Nintendo DS. Some users have been thinking that they want to "copy" Apple and add the letter to their new portable handheld devices. But that is far from it. It actually dates back WAY long ago when Nokia first made their mobile phones. Ever remember the older phones such as the Nokia 6610i? Or even the modern phones these days such as the Nokia N95i?
Well all the letter 'i' stands for is basically saying that it is a minor improvement from the last handheld. For example, the Nokia N95i is only slightly upgraded in features comparing with the Nokia N95. In the same way the Nintendo DSi also had a minor facelift and hence they added the letter 'i'. This is in MY opinion so I can't guarantee that it is totally true. Hope this helps some people still wondering why they called it Nintendo DSi.

| |  I believe that Nintendo's official reasoning for the "i" is for a couple reasons. The first is that i is like "eye" and the DSi has two cameras... so it's a play on that. Like it's comparing a camera to an eye... like the Playstation's camera is called the "Eye Toy". The second reason is that i is like I as in me, and Nintendo wants to go for a sense of customability and individuality with the DSi. Which goes along with their DSi slogan which is "What will you and i do?"
