playstation 3 or wii???  

It very much depends on what you want from a gaming console. The Wii is more of a family centred gaming console - or so we are lead to believe. Simple, fun activities can be done on the Wii, and there's a huge amount of games based around keeping fit.

On the other hand, if you want pure gaming power, plenty of sports games and shooters, I would definitely go for the PS3. The graphics can be absolutely amazing.

The only downfall with either console is that the games are extremely expensive!

I got my son a PS 3 and we are renting it from Arrons Rents at 99 dollars a month. If anything happens to it, it gets stolen from my house, stops working right, for the whole year we have it they replace it NO questions asked. Now that does not happen when you walk out of the store after you pay that three or four hundred dollars. I know my way is more expensive, but he got the game station, 2 controls, a remote control and a game. You don't get that with the game.

wii because you can play backups just by softmodding your wii.
