Do you get moody after reading?

yaaa! i always get emotional when reading novels. And at the end of the novel, i should always imagine if this thing happened, etc. HAHA what i mean is, im trying to change the plot of the story in my head [;

YES! Reading a book affects the mood. It depends of course what makes it emotional for you. I am moved by love if it is sincere and total. Then I identify with the character and feel very low. Another situation which aroused anger in me was a novel by one of our writers who described the way in which Hindus suffered in Muslim period. Normally very balanced to the point of being detached I was very much disturbed by the reading- that I ruined our family holiday. My daughter of ten years, learned of it and took away and hid the book. I haven't yet completed it. Since the book was in Kannada she almost prevented me from reading anything in Kannada as a knee-jerk reaction, for quite a long time, until I explained to her that it was not the language but the content that was disturbing.

Later the same book was translated into Sanskrit. I have since bought the book. I could not collect the courage to read it or begin reading it as yet. It is especially so if you are of that ethos. Well, even Alex Hailey's Roots made me sad and anger rose in me against the white races.

But we must let better sense prevail, and not over-react.These days I have a solution to this. Whenever I read something disturbing- I know because I tend to identify with the characters and am more influenced by the moods if they happen to be historical truths[unfortunately historical truths are more half-truths than any other]. If I know it is pure fiction however it doesn't affect me much. But in reality there is nothing like pure fiction.
