Bad News For Chronicles Of Narnia Fans  

Like you, Pye, I loved TLTWATW but haven't seen Prince Caspian! I went to the first one with my Mum - as I recall, we were told off for taking 'smelly food' into the cinema and the lad wanted to confiscate it! Bwaahahha! It was only fish'n'chips - and we hadn't been aware we weren't allowed to bring food in. We were SO embarrassed, as you can imagine. Digression. For some reason, the second movie wasn't well advertised here, and I wasn't aware it had come and gone. It's probably out on vid by now. I agree about the Harry Potter movies, too. I think the first one was special because the sets and the special effects were so brilliant - I think my mouth was hanging open for most of it in amazement - but by the time the second one came along we knew what to expect. Brilliant soundtrack, too - John Williams is an absolute genius.

Apparently Prince Caspian didn't make as much money as they wanted/expected.

I didn't see either in the theater, but recently got the 2nd movie and watched it. It was good, but once again was mindful of the big fight at the end of the first. A lot of money and CGI in that and might be scaring off the big 2 if the next one is as down from the 2nd as the 2nd was the first, it'd lose money.

I am a huge fan of The cronicles of Narnia. I also have not seen Prince Caspian. I Loved The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I home schooled my youngest son and we read The Cronicles of Narnia in our reading part of schooling. I read to him then he read to me. It has remained very special to both of us. When he left home he asked if he could taake the original boxed set with him. Of course I said yes and I saw it at his current home, proudly displayed and he will be 29 in April. I do not know or follow the producers, directors like you do. I just know what I like and leave it at that. I admire people that folow every aspect like you do. It's never been a big thing with me. I hope the 3rd movie, The Voyage of The Dawn Treader is as good as the first two. I am looking forward to seeing Prince Caspian.

i love the chronicles of narnia movies - i have yet to read the 7 books though I am really wondering as well why Disney/Walden would pull out from this big project... maybe something has gone bad with their business deal. Anyway, I really hope that the new director will keep the same quality for the next movies and try to make them as magical as the first two.

Disney is going to lose a lot since they are pulling out of the Chronicles of Narnia series. I know the the director may be pulling out as well but sometimes a new insight into a movie can help. I just can't believe what went through disney's mind to pull out of a goldmine like The Chronicles of Narnia.

With Disney in the mix, does it surprise you? I mean, look at Disney's current and some of the past list of movies they've made...each and everyone has dealt with something immoral in one way or another. They even have an open days. "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" has too much Christianity involved for their liking and they can't have that on their plate. Too bad story lines like that are so unpopular...the world would be a better place if they were.*Pleiades

Could it be a fight of who gets the bigger piece of the pie? Or it could be a fight or creative differences.
You know it just may be that they could not get everyone's schedule coordinated.

I hope whoever works on it doesnt trash it. The first movie was ok in my book. I mean I liked it but for me it lacked the wow factor. However Prince Caspian was awesome! I liked it much better. Watch it as soon as you can.

I loved that first Narnia film. My daughter and I went to see it and really enjoyed ourselves. I particularly loved that dear little girl, and disliked that horrid little boy. I still disliked that little boy even when he turned good.

It was on television here just a few months ago and I watched it all over again, and I had a good cry all over again even though I knew the ending was a good one.

I haven't seen the second one either. In fact I wasn't even aware there was a second one. Have you read all the books?

Pity they are no longer to be made. I would say the reason is they just don't make the millions expected for a film these days. Perhaps they aren't actually the goldmine we expect them to be.

Seems to me people like to see blood and guts and car chases. These are the ones that make the money. For instance the James Bonds hit the jackpot for the money stakes. There is no way I could ever sit thought one of those, but they are most certainly very popular.

Wow, those are really alot of changes. My pet peeve is when they change the actors that play on the fist couple of movies, in a series. You just know it's going downhill after that. Are they keeping the same cast this time, do you know?
