Beautiful or handsome. What is the difference?

Normally a man is supposed to be handsome and a woman is supposed to be beautiful. Wut what is the essential difference? Why can't a man be described as beautiful and a woman as handsome. What is the main difference between the two? In essense the same thing is described for both.

We can't because those are the only words that would let us distinguish if we are talking about a man or a woman. In the same way that we cannot call a man a woman and vice versa.

i think there is no difference other than one being a masculine form and one a feminine form

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but I reckon that beauty is inside all of us. There is good and bad in all and the beauty can be seen by others by our actions, words and deeds. Have a great day from Deeeky
