How is the legal system in your country? |
| |
| How long does it take for cases to be settled? Does it take innumerable years for simple cases to be settled? Are people going to the courts at the drop of a hat? Do they ultimately get entangled in legal hassles and realize that they made a big mistake? I find that in India, though High profile cases do get settled in a few years, some normal cases take 25 to 30 years and in all probability the person who has gone to court either dies or gives up after a few years and the case dies its own death. Many under trials continue to languish in jails and the case never reaches a conclusion. I wonder if it is wise to take a case to court. How are things in your country? | | | | | |

| | I'd have to say that our countries court system is a little bit over the top. Especially on things like drugs or minors drinking alcohol. The United States of America doesn't understand that when you send productive people into jail because they do drugs it doesn't make them want to stop it just puts them further out of being productive. It's hard to try and get a job and stuff when you have a record and it's hard to come back and live your life after being locked up for a while. If you ask me I think that the United States could use some change in their legal system. | | | | | | |

| | The legal system in the UK is not good. There are so many violent and disgusting criminals that get a pathetic punishment, like the man who raped a 9 month old baby and only got 2 years, and the man who was a serial rapist and was not punished at all, they said it was his medication that made him lose control. | | | | | | |

| | Tsk tsk this reminds me of the case I filed against somebody who tried to attack me. It took 5 years just for me to take the witness stand. Knowing from the attorney that it might take another 5 years I just agreed for a settlement. It's totally crazy. If I want it to get solved quickly I would have to hire a competent lawyer to help me. Unfortunately I couldn't afford it. | | | | | | |

| | I am now in a situation where I need a speedy help from the legal system. Here in Philippines you need to money in order to have a good lawyer and you also need money if you believe in the power of bribery. If you want justice you have to pay for it. This is what I believe because there are a lot of evidences that shows that justice is only given to the rich ones. I have resigned from a previous call center here and until now I haven't received my last pay. It hurts me to know that the agency responsible in solving cases and disputes regarding labor matters is not helpful. I tried calling them through my cellphone this afternoon but to my surprise they did not accommodate me well. It's like the last resort I could ask for help is the one who will bring my hope down. I know that I will go to their office and file a complaint against my previous employer, then it will take me months or even years to win the case and get the small amount of money that came from my sweat, efforts and sacrifices. I wish that when my 3 month old son grew up, the legal system is no longer as slow as snail. A simple case should be solved within a specific length of time, let's say a definite 2 months so that people will not lose hope and trust in the legal system and the government. | | | | | | |

| | I am from your country, and I completely agree. For celebrities cases are not so big issues, but for normal people cases sucks. They lose not only cases but time, money, and most importantly the precious years of their life. I think out of the court settlements are better than filing cases. | | | | | | |
