The Entertainment Media

Has the entertainment media gone too far? I'm referring to the recent tragedy of the Travolta family and the countless other celebrities that find themselves in the news. I know that the entertainment media is just another one of those businesses that have to make money and they have been around for a long, long time. If there's gossip out there, they will find it. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but when did we, as the public, ask them to find something more than gossip? I don't think that we wanted "dirt" to the point of "blood". Should the entertainment media rethink their content? Do we expect the entertainment media to be rude so we can, what?, get our 10 minutes of reading for a jolly? DCMerkle

I hear ya, but since everyone watchs it and reveals in it,they are not going to stop...why should they? THey are reporting news. THe fact that it is at someone elses expense is not their concern. I hate shows like ENtertainment Tonight and the like - mainly cause I can't stand hollywood these days. Celebrities these days are so fake and phoney and self righteous and just all around jerks. All they do is marry, divorce and do affairs inbetween! They go over seas to help others, but ignore those that made them what they are and don't help anyone from their own country. Now I am sure there are a few that do things in the USA, but they are few and far between. Why is ther not another Bob Hope and USO for our troops? But in the end, the media goes as far as it can and will continue because people tune in tomorrow!... everybody but me!

I'm not saying it hasn't happened in past Hollywood - but it wasn't as prevelant and "in your face" as it is now. And as far as the troops being in more danger now than then, I don't believe that. Troops are always in danger - no matter which war they are in.
