Fasting Blood Work?

I went to the doctor yesterday for some tests and she's sending me in for bloodwork today. I had to fast from 10 last night until whenever I can get in this morning, and am not enthusiastic about it because, a) It's 15 minutes away in this COLD weather before the sun is up, and b) It's getting blood drawn! Have you ever had to have fasting blood work done? I'm off to get it done so I can have breakfast!

I hate fasting before bloodwork. I've had to do this several times. I hate missing my morning coffee and juice. Usually they have you fast to do bloodwork for blood sugar and also for cholesterol checks. It isn't fun, but it's only one morning, right. Good luck on your tests.

Fasting is usually necessary for most of the blood tests. What blood test is being done for you? Is it for blood sugar estimation to exclude diabetes? If it is so, you need both fasting and post-prandial sugar estimation.
